Aircraft interiors firm jets in 200 new jobs
New general aviation company Southern Aviation Parts & Services LLC will invest between $15 million and $17 million in facilities in western Chatham County in Savannah and Pooler, and will create 200 well-paying jobs in the next five years, with salaries averaging $60,000.
The company will manufacture custom, high-end aircraft interiors for large, private planes.
Expected to begin construction in 2014, the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport location will create interiors for aircraft including the Boeing 737 and 757 and the Airbus A319 and A320 models.
The Pooler facility at 123 Westside Blvd. will provide engineering, fabrication and finishing services for general aviation customers.
The company’s co-founderHoss Motlagh is a seasoned hand in this industry. He was a founding partner in the successful Savannah Air Center before selling it to Jet Aviation, a division of General Dynamics.
The new company also has strong community support with the Savannah Economic Development Authority expected to approve incentives very soon.
