Leggett & Platt dropping into Kansas City’s SubTropolis
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ford automotive supplier and upfitter Leggett & Platt Commercial Vehicle Products is opening a facility in the SubTropolis underground development in Kansas City. The company’s manufacturing operations and offices will create 50 jobs.
Leggett & Platt CVP installs interior rack shelving, wall liner packages, exterior ladder racks and more for Ford’s new Transit commercial van. The company is leasing 72,000 square feet at SubTropolis, as well as a 13.5 acre underground parking lot with room for 1,200 Transits. The facility is just two miles from Ford’s Claycomo assembly plant where the Transit is produced.
