Safeway needs 2,000 employees in mid-Atlantic region

BALTIMORE — Grocery store chain Safeway is hiring 2,000 summer position in four mid-Atlantic region states including 25 stores in Baltimore.

It is the company’s largest hiring blitz in years and Safeway hopes to hire individuals who will stay with the chain. It reports many of its executives began at entry level positions like bagging groceries at Safeway while in high school or college.

In the company’s eastern division it has more than 11,000 employees. The company is seeking people to work in a variety of areas including service clerks, cashiers, cake decorators, bakers, produce clerks and management positions.
