Jacksonville Jaguars pair with Uber to drive fans, ticket sales

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Beginning this week, the Jacksonville Jaguars are beginning a first-of-its-kind partnership with Uber, becoming the first professional sports team to provide in-app access to discounted tickets for fans taking a ride to EverBank Field on game day.

The new season-long initiative kicks off on Nov. 19 when the Jaguars battle the Tennessee Titans in prime time on Thursday Night Football.

“With Uber we’ve created an integrated solution to the seating and transportation needs of Jaguars fans,” said Steve Ziff, the Jaguars vice president of Marketing & Digital Media. “It’s a convenient ticket purchase and safe ride wrapped into one quick and easy transaction.”

When fans are ready to go to EverBank Field on game day, they can quickly access the Uber app on any smartphone and select the Jaguars paw print icon. After setting the pickup location, fans will be prompted to select up to four lower level tickets at a promotionally-priced rate and will be billed directly through Uber. Account holders will receive a confirmation message which can be presented at ticket will-call with a valid ID upon drop-off at EverBank Field.

“Getting people what they want, when they want it is what Uber is all about,” said General Manager for Uber in Florida Matt Gore. “We are proud to work with the Jaguars organization on this innovative partnership to provide fans with an efficient, seamless game day experience.”

The Uber ride and ticket promotion will begin on Nov. 19 and be active for game day at of each of the Jaguars’ remaining home games this season. Additionally, fans should keep a lookout for other collaborations with Uber in 2015. Already in October, Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson took the wheel as an official Uber driver in downtown Jacksonville, giving fans a once-in-a-lifetime trip around town.

Already in 2015, the Jaguars announced the first team-branded video game, “Duval Dash” and Jaguars Arcade, the NFL’s first emoji keyboard, the “Wall of Duval” social aggregator tool and a new partnership with SnapStream to better integrate animated GIFs into its social content plan.
