Health insurance provider Aetna creating 225 Fresno jobs

FRESNO, Calif. — Aetna’s footprint in Fresno is about to get bigger by 225 new employees, with the company planning to grow by the end of 2017.

The hiring activity will increase the company’s current Fresno employee base of approximately 770, making Aetna one of the largest private employers in the city.

The new jobs will support the company’s service operations for its commercial and Medicare members and will include call agents, customer service and appeals representatives.

Aetna currently leases 122,640 square feet in a building located at 1385 Shaw Ave., and will invest in in facility upgrades, new equipment and furniture to accommodate the new hires.

“We are excited about our growth in Fresno. We look forward to continuing to be a strong corporate citizen and employer of choice in this community,” said Linda Machado, head of service operations in Fresno.  “Adding new jobs will positively contribute to the area economy as well as our company’s service operations, so it’s a win-win situation.”

The company’s expansion in Fresno will be supported by an incentive package recently awarded by California Competes, which includes state tax incentives.
